Emory's 20th Korean Culture Night Event Planning & Marketing Strategy
To celebrate Emory's 20th Korean Culture Night (KCN), I took the lead in planning and hosting the event with my club, KISEM. To effectively promote KCN, I devised a comprehensive marketing strategy that included:
-
Designing an Instagram story repost challenge
-
Producing engaging Instagram reels
-
Creating five Instagram posts
-
Developing a Korean ID-themed ticket for the event
These efforts resulted in over 15,000 engagements on Instagram, attracted more than 400 attendees, and secured coverage in three local news outlets. All the promotional materials are showcased in the accompanying image.

Proposal
To showcase the vibrant culture and heritage of Korea, KISEM organizes an annual Korea Week celebration. In a strategic move to support this cultural extravaganza, I spearheaded a collaborative effort with State Farm.
The partnership aimed at securing a sponsorship of $3,000 to bolster the event.
Above is the proposal slides presented to the Marketing Managers at State Farm, detailing our vision and the mutual benefits of this collaboration.

In an effort to enhance the cultural richness of Korea Week, I embarked on an innovative partnership with BDNS, a highly influential figure in Korea with 1.3M subscribers on YouTube. Among his diverse characters, one stands out as a SAT tutor boasting an alma mater of Emory University. Recognizing this real-time opportunity, I seized the moment by reaching out to BDNS and his team. After sharing a comprehensive proposal, I initiated discussions to explore how we could synergize our efforts.
KISEM (Korean International Students at Emory) Organization: President
As the new President of KISEM for 2023-24, over the summer, I collaborated with Korean International Students' organizations from Carnegie Mellon University and Boston University to host a mixer, hosted Freshmen-welcome gathering dinner, initiated Mentoring program for freshmen, informed the insurance system for international students, started a new "Know-Hows for Freshie" content to share useful tips and information for freshmen, delivered valuable external information that needed a voice, and commemorated Korean national holidays.
All content and promotion materials above are created by me.
The Hatchery, Emory Center for Innovation: Instagram
As a Communications Innovation Coordinator, I oversee the Instagram of The Hatchery (Emory Center for Innovation). After consulting and implementing new series of content, like Human of The Hatchery and The Hatchery Highlights, the posts performed 95% better than previous posts, and Likes increased by 20 times on average.
Emory Korea Week
PassPort Card
During Korea Week, I directed and designed the passport that will be used at the events. Participants were able to get a stamp per event. Four or more stamps gave them five extra raffle tickets, which increased the engagement rate by 21%.
KISEM Executive Application Promotion
Due to the decreasing interest in Executive Applications in KISEM, I initiated and directed an Instagram Story campaign to lessen the barrier. To brand KISEM as a friendly and helpful club, I intentionally employed memes, bright pastel-toned colors, and a casual tone of voice. This increased the application rate by 325%.
BlaeZ Dance Showcase
Promotion Video
As a PR chair in BlaeZ Dance Team, I produced and directed a 45-second promotional video for the annual showcase: BlaeZ to the Future. The video was filmed and edited to convey the retro theme of the showcase.
Ome Kitchen
As an aspiring content marketer, I created a 58-second short-form content for Ome Kitchen. Ome Kitchen is a start-up company that presents smart kitchen knobs to provide better control of the kitchen. Figuring out that Ome Kitchen has low product awareness, I created content that informs Ome's smart knob in concise, simple, and humorous way.
Ome Kitchen: Slide deck
I created a slide deck that captures the current snapshot of Ome's digital channels. Then, I consulted which channels to eliminate, add, and focus on. I suggested how each channel can be used as a tool by analyzing each channel's characteristics, audience, and ecosystem.
TikTok, Go Viral Project
In my Content Marketing Class, our professor gave us a project that simply asked us to go "viral" on TikTok incorporating the elements we learned during class. I decided to convey a simple story with a humorous tone and trending audio in my content so it encourages the viewers to engage and relate. The TikTok video was posted on our professor's account (@profmarinacooley) and reached 40K+ views with 2.5+K likes.
It was a valuable experience to experiment, learn, and prove!
DanceATL Social Media
Website, Instagram, Mailchimp
During Summer 2022, I was honored to work at DanceATL as an Arts Administrative Intern. DanceATL is a non-profit organization that provides resources, promotion, and collaborative opportunities for the Atlanta dance community. During the Internship, I was in charge of DanceATL's Instagram and Mailchimp; I sent weekly "Monday Moves" articles to 1,062 audiences, updated websites with new events, designed the publication of "Promenade," and uploaded various Instagram posts and reels to promote upcoming events
KISEM Instagram
KISEM is a cultural club at Emory University that shares Korean culture and helps Korean International Students to adapt to Emory University. As a Communications Chair, I oversee KISEM's official Instagram account and create posters, polls, films, posts, and give feedback to Communications team members. I improved the average impression of each post by 210 percent.
Sumtarr Instagram
As a marketing assistant at Sumtarr, I oversaw the Instagram account of the cafe and actively posted content, which increased 500+ followers. To engage and catch the targeted audience's eyes, I brought the café's signature desserts to famous tourist sights to take aesthetic pictures. I also incorporated hashtags to bring more audience. These kinds of posts reached more impressions and had editors wanting to repost the café's desserts to their own social media platform, which created word of mouth on the internet.
Poster & Graphic Design & Short Form Content
These are a collection of posters, graphic designs, and short-form content (Instagram reels, TikToK) I have created for clubs, events, promotions, and a company.
